What labels should be attached to the outer package of lithium battery goods
In the maritime hazard code, the UN numbers corresponding to lithium batteries are un3090, un3091, un3480 and un3481 respectively, and the hazard category is class 9 (Miscellaneous dangerous goods). Lithium batteries are different from common dangerous goods. There is no specific packaging category in the transportation regulations, but this does not mean that there are no packaging requirements for lithium batteries during transportation. The following small series will take you to know which battery labels need to be attached to the export packaging of lithium batteries.

Clear dimensions required by the new battery label
B. The new battery label has two * lines. The first line needs to fill in the UN number of the battery category, and the second line needs to fill in the packaging category (pi965-pi970) and emergency contact number of the battery category
C. The old version of battery label can still be used, and it will be updated to the new version of battery label from December 31, 2018
D. Since January 1, 2017, the label attribute of the battery has been changed to tag, and it is a common tag for land, sea and air.

Battery label special label for class 9 dangerous goods battery
A. The dangerous goods label of lithium battery is specially designed from the original general 9 categories of dangerous goods label, which is more conducive to identifying whether the goods are batteries or goods with batteries.
B. The old class 9 dangerous goods label can still be used, and the latest class 9 dangerous goods lithium battery special label will be fully used on December 31, 2018.

Cargo label only
Some battery goods can only be transported by cargo aircraft. Most lithium metal battery goods and pure battery goods (rechargeable treasure) need to be transported by cargo aircraft, and the cargo aircraft only label needs to be pasted on the outer container.

Consignee / shipper tag
The packaging and transportation requirements corresponding to the battery goods determine whether the special label for class 9 dangerous goods batteries needs to be pasted on the outer box of the battery goods. If it needs to be pasted, the shipper must fill in the declaration form, then the consignee and consignor mark shall be pasted on the outer box of such battery goods, and the specific format is as follows:

Shipper information:

Consignee information:
UN......... Special name for transportation
Lithium ion battery (lithium metal battery)
The net weight of the battery in each package.

Labeling requirements:
A. The marking label must be pasted on the larger side of the box
B. All marks and labels must be pasted on the same side of the outer box
C. There shall be no covering between various labels.

Precautions during battery cargo transportation:
1. During the transportation of pure battery goods, attention must be paid to the requirements such as the rated power of the battery or the net weight of lithium metal specified in the packaging instructions. If the standard is exceeded, the transportation requirements must be replaced.
2. During the transportation of pure battery goods, the goods must be transported in pallets. The side marked with labels must face the outside. The pallets need to be wrapped with transparent packaging film, and the four sides of the pallets need to be pasted with per overpark kg (net weight of all battery goods on the pallets)
3. The consignee and consignor filled in the declaration form must be consistent with the consignee and consignor mark of the bill of lading and outer container
4. When different types of electrified or internal electric goods are mixed in one box, multiple corresponding battery marks must be pasted on the outer box.
5. The contact number on the battery must be valid. If there is a problem during the transportation of battery goods, you need to call the emergency contact number to ask about the goods and handling methods.
