Since its appearance in 1990, lithium-ion battery has developed rapidly because of its excellent performance, and is widely used in society. Lithium ion batteries have quickly occupied many fields with incomparable advantages over other batteries, such as well-known mobile phones, laptops, small cameras and so on.
At present, the recognized basic principle of lithium battery is the so-called "rocking chair theory". The impulse discharge of lithium battery does not realize the electron transfer through the traditional way, but changes the energy through the entry and exit of lithium ions in the crystal of strong material. In the case of normal impulse discharge, the entry and exit of lithium ions generally only cause the change of layer spacing, but will not cause the damage of crystal structure. Therefore, from the perspective of impulse discharge reflection, lithium ion battery is an ideal reversible battery. During charging and discharging, lithium ions go back and forth between the positive and negative poles of the battery, just like rocking chairs between the positive and negative poles. Therefore, some people call the image of lithium-ion battery rocking chair battery.
We often say that the advantages of lithium-ion battery are aimed at the traditional nickel cadmium battery (Ni / CD) and nickel hydrogen battery (Ni / MH). It has the advantages of high working voltage, large specific energy, long cycle life, low self discharge rate and no memory effect.
(1) Misunderstanding: "battery activation, more than 12 hours after the first three times of charging"
For the "activation" of lithium battery, many people say that the charging time must exceed 12 hours and repeat it three times in order to activate the battery. This saying that "the first three charges should be charged for more than 12 hours" is obviously a continuation of nickel batteries (such as nickel cadmium and nickel hydrogen). Therefore, this statement can be said to have been misinformed at the beginning. After sampling survey, it can be seen that a considerable number of people confuse the charging methods of the two batteries.
The charge and discharge characteristics of lithium batteries and nickel batteries are very different. All the serious formal technical data consulted emphasize that overcharge and overcharge will cause great harm to lithium batteries, especially liquid lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, it is best to charge according to the standard time and standard method, especially do not charge for more than 12 hours. Generally, the charging method described in the mobile phone manual is the standard charging method suitable for the mobile phone.
(2) It is not beneficial to charge for a long time and recharge after the battery is completely used up
The mobile phone or charger of lithium battery will automatically stop charging after the battery is full. There is no so-called "trickle" charging of nickel battery charger for more than 10 hours. If the lithium battery is fully charged, it will not be charged if it is placed on the charger.
Lithium battery manufacturers have made many experiments and concluded that over charging and over discharging will result in over charging and over discharging, which will cause permanent damage to the positive and negative electrodes of lithium-ion battery. From the molecular level, over discharging will lead to excessive release of lithium ions from the negative carbon and collapse of its sheet structure, Overcharging will force too many lithium ions into the negative carbon structure, so that some of them can no longer be released.
